Support Dreamers: Send a postcard to Congress today! Click here ›
We’re interns with the National Education Association EdJustice team. Last week, we helped deliver more than 15,000 postcard messages to Members of Congress, urging them to pass the Dream Act. We both come from families of immigrants, and we were so proud to represent all of the voices on the postcards, and to pass on your messages of “I support Dreamers because _________.”
We were encouraged by the staff in congressional offices who saw hope that we could get the Dream Act passed — but it won’t happen if we don’t keep up the pressure. As we come together for Thanksgiving, please show your support for the Dream Act by giving Dreamers a symbolic place at your table.
Share a photo of your Thanksgiving, and tell your Member of Congress that Dreamers are welcome in our country and at our table. Can you fit in one quick post between the turkey and football? It’s easy:
1. Post your photo to Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram.
2. Use the hashtags #DreamersWelcome and #DreamAct so that everyone following the conversation sees your message.
3. Tag your Representative to keep the pressure on to pass the Dream Act. You can look up their Twitter handle here.
There is so much at stake for Dreamers and their families. During our time as interns working to pass the Dream Act — in conversations with Dreamers and as we delivered postcards on Capitol Hill — we have seen that all of your efforts are having an impact. We must keep striving for what is right, and we must keep up the fight until Congress passes the Dream Act.
Thank you for all you have done, and all you will do. Happy Thanksgiving!
